Dr. Huiling Ding – TCA Faculty Adviser
Dr. Huiling Ding is an Associate Professor of Technical Communication and Director of the MS program in Technical Communication at NC State University. Her scholarly interests include health communication, intercultural technical communication, risk communication, grant writing, and workplace communication. Her current research examines the interaction between artificial intelligence, technical communication, and culture.
Esther Kentish – TCA President
Esther Kentish is a graduate student at North Carolina State University studying Technical Communication. She serves as the President of the Technical Communication Association at North Carolina State University. Her research focuses on data visualization, poetry analysis, and medical writing.
Khawar Latif Khan – TCA Vice President
Khawar Latif Khan is a Fulbright scholar from Pakistan, studying Technical Communication at North Carolina State University. He serves as the Vice President of the Technical Communication Association. His research interests include intercultural communication, information design, usability research, and online communication.
Sydney Sample – TCA Secretary
Sydney Sample is a graduate student at North Carolina State University studying Technical Communication. She has been interested in modality and information design ever since working as a reporter and production manager at a daily newspaper. When not in class, she can be found preparing lesson plans for her professional writing course or browsing antique stores.
Jianfen Chen – TCA Treasurer
Jianfen Chen is pursuing her Master of Science in Technical Communication at North Carolina State University. She is also working as a graduate instructor for a course on Communication for Business and Management. Her research interests include intercultural communication, technical communication, risk communication, globalization and localization, and comparative and contrastive rhetoric.
Kelia Ray – TCA Treasurer
Kelia Ray is a graduate student at North Carolina State University. She serves as the Graduate Student Association Representative of the Technical Communication Association. She is an influential Health Information Manager (HIM) proficient in medical billing & coding application and instruction. She is an active participant in community activities, adult education theory, and the advancement of EHR towards evolving AI ontologies.
Summer Walls – TCA Event Planner
Summer Walls started the MS Technical Communication to catalyze a technical writing career in aerospace or software engineering. Her professional background is rooted in book publishing, journalism, and all things editorial. She hopes to combine her editing expertise with specialization in user-centered design, technical documentation, and systems thinking.
Chenxing Xie – TCA Committee Representative
Chenxing Xie is a graduate student in Technical Communication program at North Carolina State University. Her research interests include technical and professional communication, health communication, digital rhetoric, and corpus-based discourse analysis.
Ayana Sadler – TCA Social Media Specialist
Ayana Sadler works at Durham Technical Community College and is committed to ensuring that students receive the support needed to secure their high school diploma. Ayana is also a student at NC State University, pursuing her master’s in Technical Communication. Upon graduation, she aspires to pursue a career in Medical Marketing & Communication, and travel globally with her profession.
